An 11-year-old boy was kidnapped and raped before being murdered and dismembered in a satanic ritual, police said.
Four men and a school principal have been charged with the brutal killing of Mario Agustin Salto, nicknamed Marito, who was found dead in June 2016.
The discovery of his body came just 48 hours after he told his family he was going on a fishing trip in the small town of Quimili in the north-central Argentine province of Santiago del Estero.
A post-mortem determined that Marito was raped before being hung with a wire, and then dismembered as he died.
Police say they have recently arrested Miguel Angel Jimenez, 58, his wife Arminda Lucrecia Dia, 57, the director of a school, their son, Alfredo Daniel Albarracin, 40, and Pablo Ramirez, 38.
The four new arrests bring the total number of people detained in relation to the crime up to seven, after three men were detained last June.
They were named as Rodolfo Sequeira, David Tomas Sosa and Ramon Salvatierra.
Officers say all of the new detainees belong to the same family.
The judge in charge of the case, Rosa Falco de Rainieri, said it is believed the boy was killed as part of a satanic ritual.
Police said there could be more arrests and the investigation continues.
