A Grade 9 pupil in Burgos, Pangasinan was captured for bringing a custom-made unlicensed 9 mm firearm to class on Thursday, August 3.
Per the Inquirer, PSINSP Eddie Suyat said the unlicensed firearm was found by teacher Evelyn Cabalhag, inside the student’s bag when she scolded him for not focusing on the lesson.
Ms. Cabalhag thought at first that
the kid and his seatmate were viewing a video from a cell phone covered up inside a bag. However, upon examination, she saw the weapon wrapped in a white shirt.
The educator grabbed the weapon and raised the issue to the school key who called the police.
The kid was transfer to custody of police headquarters where he was accused of unlawful ownership of guns. Being a minor, he was set under the guardianship of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
